The idea for LifeFile arrived in the middle of the night. I was having trouble sleeping; because three weeks earlier my 69 year-old father had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He lived alone on the family farm and had now moved in with my family and me during his treatment. I was extremely worried about him and how we could manage his care and business affairs. The farm was 90 miles away and it had been 20 years since I had been involved in its day-to-day operations. I suddenly needed information on everything from health insurance to the IRS. At times it was difficult for my father to communicate and that made locating important information a challenge. At that time, It would have been a tremendous time saver and stress reliever, if there had been a single resource that listed personal, family, financial or health information; where it might be located, or people who knew where that information could be obtained.
