Synygy is now in its 17th year. With such a long history, this overview is meant to highlight only the key milestones and give you a sense of how we got to where we are today. 1989 - The idea behind the start of the company was based on a technology that could analyze data and automatically explain in words, numbers, and graphics what the data meant. In November 1989, Mark Stiffler, our founder, president, and CEO, thought this technology might have application in the creation of business simulations. Hence “Simulate, Inc.” was the company’s original name. 1991 - The first version of Synygy’s technology, dubbed ADEPT for “Automated Data Evaluation and Publishing Technology,” was completed in February. Synygy had received a commitment from its first client-Schering-Plough. 1992 - we had signed three more pharmaceutical clients. 1997 - we changed the name of the company from Simulate to Synygy-a word that that means nothing in any language. (The idea came to Mark while drinking a glass of wine, eating cheese, and reading the dictionary, where he came across the word Syzygy, which he then morphed into Synygy.) 1999 - Synygy began focusing itself as The Incentive Compensation Company and launched a marketing campaign aimed at developing the sales compensation management marketplace, with an emphasis on outsourcing services. 2000 - by the end of the year we signed three new companies as our first on-premise software clients. 2001 - we were named to the Inc. 500 Hall of Fame following five consecutive years on the Inc. magazine list of fastest growing, privately-held companies in the United States. We were also named to the Philadelphia 100 Hall of Fame following a record nine appearances in the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the region’s fastest growing companies. 2002 - Synygy entered the performance management arena by acquiring a software company called Incensoft. The acquisition included a software development group in Iasi, Romania. Later, along with a client services group that we started in Bucharest, Synygy Europa s.r.l. was created. 2003 - we created Synygy India Pvt. Ltd. and opened the office in Pune, which grew rapidly from a handful of people to over 200 people in 2006. 2004 - we achieved a major milestone-our 50th consecutive quarter of profitable growth. 2005 - Among the deals signed and delivered in that year was our largest deal ever-a five year process management outsourcing contract with GSK. 2006 - we broke our 2005 record by signing an even bigger deal-a 20 million, five year contract with US Cellular, a large telecommunications company. With 95% of the world’s largest companies still using home-grown sales compensation management processes, there is a large untapped market ripe for Synygy’s solutions. So, the best is still ahead for us!
